I am a big fan of frameworks. For that reason, I’ve started to outline parameters that will help me operate. Most of my professional experience is in the Design Development and Construction Document phases. However, from the experience I do have with conceptual design, I’ve noticed clients always want to skip forward before identifying what the “Problem” is. The diagram to the left was created to help organize my thoughts and approach to bridging the gap between the incipient stage of project and schematic design.

This photo was taken from an event I attended Saturday night at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg P.A. This building has an amazing Cantilevered gallery area but it was too dark to get a good photo.

Today I sketched my house. I think every designer who owns a home should spend time studying what makes their home special to them. For me it’s the amalgam of the dutch colonial style and the classic Pittsburgh awnings, the richness of the colors and how they tie in with the fall and the appearance of the forested canopy beyond the fence.
